Having a maternity photoshoot is a fantastic way to mark this milestone in your life, so here are some tips for posing to help you understand what to expect.
"But Amy ...I'm camera shy!"
This is the most common concern, you aren't alone. It helps to think of me as a good friend just casually taking your picture as we go for a walk to our chosen spot. I'm here to capture the beautiful you and your bump and I am always on your team.
Depending on how far along in your pregnancy you are and how you are feeling will determine what moves we can do. Sorry thats vague but you and I will have a chat about this closer to your shoot time and make a plan for it, including the access to the location that we want.
Preparing for your photoshoot:
● Take everything out of your pockets - Keys, Phone, lip balm everything.
● Remove hair ties from your wrist. Be aware of bra strap marks too.
● When I’m guiding you, try not to look at me (the photographer) unless I say “and look over at me”.
● Practise some steely blue stares into the distance. A stare can create some dramatic images.
● Try to keep your bodies together when together and close
● Ideally wear clothes that are plain without colours, patterns or logos or obvious branding or extra accessories. Open Jeans, Skirts, Dresses, White, Cream, Beige if on a beach look amazing but just wear what feels right for you.
● Footwear, wear something appropriate for your location. Easy to slip on and off or just come barefoot.
● Please check your nails are prepared well in case of hand close ups. Clean any rings/earrings etc.
Lastly, the softer the light the better! You. might be tired but let's aim to go out as the sun is setting to give us the best chance of success with your images.
Any other questions just get in touch however you like, I'm here for you to feel safe, comfortable and amazing.
